My name is Bridget Feeks, and I am delighted to be the new Pastoral Associate & Director of Ministries at St. Anthony. By way of introducing myself, I firstly and simply have to say that I am loved; I am a child of our living God. He loves us all, yes? Yet God’s love is not generic, but particular. I have such gratitude for His grace. What a good God we serve!
My husband, Mike, and I met and were married here in South Bend 36+ years ago; we have six grown children, and now eleven grandchildren. I am thankful for having had the opportunity to homeschool our children until they were of age to attend Trinity School at Greenlawn, where I, in turn, wound up teaching for the past 9 years. Of late, my husband and I examined more seriously the work-life balance between my job as a teacher there and our family life. It was difficult for me to leave, but I have experienced great peace since then, and am grateful to the Holy Spirit for His continued work in my life.
I am filled with gratitude and joy at the opportunity to be here at St. Anthony with you all and to begin working as the parish’s Director of Ministries & Pastoral Associate. Many of you have already given me such a warm welcome, and I look forward to continuing to get to know this great community. If you see me around the church or school, please don’t hesitate to stop me and say “Hello!”.
We are all made in God’s image and as such are called to live as a communion of persons. The truest expression of our humanity demands that we live this truth, and what freedom it offers! Jesus did not ask Peter questions like, “Will you be a man of upstanding character?”, “Will you be wise?”, “Will you instruct your brothers and sisters?”, or even “Will you be a model of virtue?”. Rather, he asked the one qualifying question, “Do you love me?” Let us return love for Love as we journey together to build God’s kingdom.
