Sacristans prepare the altar for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. With all liturgical materials readied with care, the liturgy flows freely toward the Eucharist.

Ministry DetailsThe priest relies on the dedication and care of our sacristans to help them with the entire service preparation.
Sacristans should arrive 30 minutes before the start of Mass to:
Before the Liturgy- Ready the worship space
- Prepare the altar and gifts
- Assist visiting deacons or priests
- Assist the servers, if needed
- Assist the priest in finding ministers for no-shows
After the Liturgy
Sacristans should plan to stay 15 minutes after Mass to:- Care for the vessels
- Reset the Sanctuary for the next Sacristan
Dress the part
Sacristans carry out their ministry with dedication and reverence. Please be sure to dress appropriately for Mass and follow all health and safety procedures.

Schedule
Our liturgical ministers are scheduled via Ministry Scheduler Pro (MSP) for scheduling periods of 10-14 weeks. MSP is super convenient and allows you to personalize your scheduling preferences including Mass preferences, dates you can't serve, and you can request a substitute with a click.
Sacristans typically serve on a fixed rotation with other sacristans at their preferred Mass and fill in at other Masses when subs are needed. Couples and friends are welcome to serve together. -
